Green can arguably be criticised for rehashing the now hackneyed storyline featured in most of his work. Everyone around him has their own opinion of Margo which is mostly limited to her appearance and elaborate pranks. As Quentin moves further in his journey to Margo, he begins to realise that the girl he has fallen in love with might never have existed. It is here that we experience Green’s brilliance in the way the character of Margo is created: She is the archetype of an enchanting and exuberant pixie girl who injects life into her brooding lover, charming him with her quirky characteristics and eccentricities.īut of course, the story is but a destruction of this trope.

Following a series of clues Margo leaves behind, the besotted Quentin spends much of his senior year unravelling the mystery as to the real Margo and where she might be. The rest of the book meanders around Margo’s disappearance, helping readers acquaint themselves with Quentin’s family, friends and himself. By the time night falls on their adventurous soiree, he falls even more in love with Margo, only to wake up the next morning and find her missing. Neighbours and former childhood buddies, Quentin and Margo have drifted apart over the years - just not apart enough for Quentin to overcome his feelings for her. The story is narrated from the point of view of Quentin Jacobson, a Floridian teenager who is enlisted by the beautiful pixie dream-girl Margo Roth Spiegelman to carry out a whirlwind revenge scheme. Through Paper Towns, Green takes on the idea of a manic pixie girl and decimates it. Released in 2009, the book has recently been converted into a full-length feature film starring supermodel Cara Delevingne and rising actor Nat Wolff and was released just last week. And while The Fault in Our Stars may have won hearts worldwide, it is in Paper Towns that one finds a true reflection of the ideas Green furnishes his fictional world with. Prior to this, Green had already earned recognition on account of his popular YouTube channel, Vlogbrothers, and some other prize-winning novels for young adults. John Green’s bespoke novel, The Fault in Our Stars, soared to the top, with fans thronging to cinemas to watch their beloved Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters fall in love on screen. Hopefully I can better describe the feeling it gives me when I do.Last summer, as the curtains rose on the season’s blockbuster movies, one particular ‘chick flick’ gained much attention. I am definitely planning on watching this film again in the near future. Live life to the fullest, have an adventure and don't let life pass you by.

This is a movie that I would recommend anyone watch. That you can have an adventure through it all and that friends are so important and that you need to cherish friendships and enjoy them to the fullest before everyone goes their separate ways. A young man graduating from high school with his whole future planned (college, marriage, kids, career) only to realize that life is more than just those things. I loved all the music that they put into the film. A good use of shallow depth of field to concentrate on solely one character at times and no shots that were visually a distraction that I noticed. There was something about the slow motion car shots that I loved as well. There were pretty lens flares that I thought were suitable for this type of film and in the scenes that they used them. I liked the cinematography in this film very much. Much comedic relief comes from the interaction of the two best friends alone and the scenes where it's all three of them. These two have completely different characters from one another but together make for a great and funny friendship. I also found the movie to be very funny with best friends like Radar (played by Justice Smith) and Ben (played by Ben Abrams). This film made good on the mystery of Margo while adding the adventure of the night before she goes missing along with the adventure that Quentin embarks throughout this entire film looking for Margo. I realize that the genre of the film is "Drama, Mystery, Romance", I think it is safe to add Adventure, Comedy to the mix. However, since most of the film after that is about finding Margo, her character is not a problem anymore. She was very monotone although she had this opinionated know it all attitude. As a matter of fact, my only real complaint was the character of Margo (played by Cara Delevingne), I can't quite put my finger on it but i found her character to be annoying throughout the first act. There is very little that disappointed me in this film.

Quentin (played by Nat Wolff) sets out on an adventure likes he's never had before. I absolutely loved this movie! As 3 friends come to the end of their senior year.
